Why it is important to know your partner's love language

How do you show your love to someone? Is it by giving gifts? Is it by spending quality time with the person? Is it by saying supportive and encouraging words? Is it by doing favors or devoted acts? Or is it through physical touch?

According to a popular idea, these five ways of expressing one’s affection are the five love languages according to Gary Chapman. Based on this approach, it is believed that each of us has a preference as to how we express love and how we want to be loved. Chapman suggests that in order for you to discover a person’s love language, try observing how that individual expresses affection to others. Most of the time, a person’s love language is also what he or she expects from others. It is supposed that we expect love the same way we give love.

For those of you who are in a relationship right now, do you know what your partner’s love language is? If not, try finding out. When you discover which of the five love languages your partner prefers, you will be able to keep your partner happy and feeling loved. Naturally, it goes without saying that your partner should do the same. If you both reciprocate your preferred love language, then this will help you both remain in a happy relationship.
